Di
Henshall - Honorary Member |
Hello, Di Henshall, I was the treasurer for Radio Haslar for many years and enjoyed
my job very much. I also presented 'Tea for Two' on
Wednesday afternoons, mainly 50's and sometimes
a few 60's. Each week withour fail we had one Glen Miller,
that was a must, with a possible occasionally classical one.
A real general programme which I did enjoy and hope the
patients in both hospitals did as well.
I remain a life long member of
Radio Haslar but no longer take any active roles since
moving away from the area, but I will still be keeping my
eye on things, checking to make sure they are spending their
pennies wisely. |

Roger Key -
Presenter |
I joined Radio Haslar because my son was doing a theatre
course at Fareham College, he came to have a look at the
station and liked it. While he was looking round I
thought I could do this too so I joined and have been here
ever since.I started like many
others doing a request show and then graduated to my own
show when the War Memorial opened up. Back then I
presented a Friday evening show and have ended up for the
past 5 years presenting Haslar at the Box Office, Thursday
nights have never been the same since. |

Hilsea at the moment, but always looking for a new

Murray -
Presenter |
Hi there, well I present Sunday Requests with the rest of
the team, it's great fun and I enjoy meeting and talking to
the patients we broadcast to and it's good to know that we
make a difference to their lives while they are in hospital,
seeing their smiles makes it all worth while.
I want to be an actress so decided to give
radio a go as well, and a good decision it was too. |

Tony
Ashcroft -
Presenter & Station Director |
I started broadcasting in 1995 with
Lincoln Hospital Radio. I've been involved with various
other stations since then, such as Airshow FM, Siren FM and
most recently at Lyneham Radio.
I present ‘The Cheerful Earful' every
Wednesday evening from 7-9pm. This show celebrates the very
best of music from the 1970’s onward and always includes a
few tunes that seem to have disappeared from the playlists
of larger radio stations! However, there will always be
room in the show to include any requests you might have.
Talking of which, the request shows are the ‘bread and
butter’ of this radio station and we enjoy playing your
favourite songs on the air. We have found that patients
have a wide variety of musical tastes and Radio Haslar takes
great pride in playing all of your favourite songs, no
matter how diverse they are or when they were first
released. We have a well stocked record library with plenty
of records and cds, so we should be able to find something
suitable!
Raising the necessary funds to keep Radio
Haslar on-air is always high on the list of priorities. As
you can see from our events page, we are always out and
about in the local area broadcasting music and interviews
with local people. These ‘Outside Broadcasts’ are often
combined with collections, and we are always grateful for
the donations we receive from members of the public.

of the best medicines |

Neil
Blanks |
 |
Hi, I'm Neil
Blanks. I've been at Radio Haslar for over seven years and
have been responsible for many unusual shows over the
period, including ones concerning the Eurovision Song
Contest, if one dares to admit that.
My current show goes out between 2pm and 4pm on Sundays and
concentrates on a Theme which varies week to week. It could
be Eurovision one week, the War Years the next, a decade
like the 70's, the 80's or the 90's the next, comedy the
next, or I could concentrate on one artist, like The Andrews
Sisters. I don't know why, I just like their style of music
and that's enough for me.
I'm into all styles of music and can play anything from
classics to very unusual songs that very rarely gets played
on any radio station. |
