Brian
Purvis - IT Administrator & Founder |
I have
been involved with Hospital Radio for many years starting
at Portsmouth Hospital Broadcasting, leaving there to
start Radio Haslar with fellow co-founder and good friend Chris Pearce.
Having originally presented The Lunchtime
Express on Saturdays I moved to the USA for 12 months, but it wasn't long
before I got the calling from Radio Haslar once again and I
was soon back.
These days my work consists of designing
and maintaining the Radio Haslar website, looking after all
the servers that keep the station functioning 24/7 and other
IT related issues as well as presenting 'Sunday Brunch'
every Sunday 9 till 12

Di
Henshall - Honorary Member |
Hello, Di Henshall, I was the treasurer for Radio Haslar for many years and enjoyed
my job very much. I also presented 'Tea for Two' on
Wednesday afternoons, mainly 50's and sometimes
a few 60's. Each week withour fail we had one Glen Miller,
that was a must, with a possible occasionally classical one.
A real general programme which I did enjoy and hope the
patients in both hospitals did as well.
I remain a life long member of
Radio Haslar but no longer take any active roles since
moving away from the area, but I will still be keeping my
eye on things, checking to make sure they are spending their
pennies wisely. |

Tammy
Murray -
Presenter |
Hi there, I'm Tammy and I present 'That's Show Business'
on Wednesday Evenings at 7pm. I play music from everything to
do with show business, ie; TV, Theatre/Musicals and Films.
My show brings together all the things that I love, acting
and singing, so this is the best show to present!
I want to be an actress at some point and you can never have
too many skills under your belt, so I decided to give radio
a go as well, and a good decision it was too! |

Marion
Hamill -
Presenter |
Hello, I've been around Royal Hospital Haslar for quite some
time having worked there about six times in my career.
I present an easy listening programme on a Monday
afternoon, mostly from the 50's and 60's. I also like
to include a comedy slot because in my book, laughter is one
of the best medicines |

John Ward here, I've been here almost the entire time Radio

My role at Radio Haslar has
included being Senior Engineer up until February 2010 which involved
maintaining output of the station and conducting repairs if
and when they were required which keept
me busy. As well as that I also presented 'Anything Goes' on a
Monday afternoon from 2-4pm playing plenty of those Big Band
classics such as Dick Haynes and the Cliff Adams Singers to
name but a few. |

Neil
Blanks |
 |
Hi, I'm Neil
Blanks. I've been at Radio Haslar for over seven years and
have been responsible for many unusual shows over the
period, including ones concerning the Eurovision Song
Contest, if one dares to admit that.
My shows go out between 12 & 2 on Fridays with Flashback and 2pm and 4pm on Sundays
with The Sunday Theme where I
concentrate on a Theme which varies week to week. It could
be Eurovision one week, the War Years the next, a decade
like the 70's, the 80's or the 90's the next, comedy the
next, or I could concentrate on one artist, like The Andrews
Sisters. I don't know why, I just like their style of music
and that's enough for me.
I'm into all styles of music and can play anything from
classics to very unusual songs that very rarely gets played
on any radio station. |

Andrew Ross Hay - Presenter
& Public Events Manager |
|
Hi, I'm Andrew. I am
Publicity Manager at Radio Haslar and also have the privilege of working on three regular
programmes, as well as outside broadcasts.
At the moment I never seem to be away from
the station meeting the patients, collecting their requests
and presenting the 'Sunday Request Show', every Sunday
between 1pm and 2pm with co-presenter Sandy Butler.
On Tuesdays at 4pm I present two
hours of Rock N Roll music in my own personal show "Oh
Boy!", in which I get to play 48 songs from 1954 - 1959,
knowing from the response I've had, that I'm not only
playing the music I love to play, but more importantly the
music the patients love to hear.
You can also catch me on a Wednesday
afternoon for 3 hours of the best in 21st Century music
including the latest chart releases in Here and Now.
It's a busy life, but worth it when you
hear just how much the patients enjoy what we do, and how
much they rely on us to make their stay that little bit
better.
